Key laboratory teacher Gan Xiao was selected into the first batch of key empowerment targets of the "Pengqi Plan" of the Jiangsu Overseas Chinese Federation

Recently, the Overseas Chinese Federation of Jiangsu Province issued a document announcing the first batch of key empowerment targets of the “Pengqi Plan”. Gan Xiao, a teacher at the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Medical Image Computing, was selected. There are only 11 people in the province (Figure 1).

The “Pengqi Plan” was first established by the Jiangsu Federation of Overseas Chinese in 2024 to provide high-quality services to overseas Chinese talents such as returned overseas Chinese, their families, and those who have returned from studying abroad to innovate and start businesses, and to encourage them to actively participate in the scientific and technological innovation of the new practice of Chinese-style modernization in Jiangsu. It is also an important measure for the Jiangsu Federation of Overseas Chinese to innovate and expand the talent work of the overseas Chinese community, empower overseas Chinese talents to contribute to the new era, and improve the quality and efficiency of the talent work of the Federation of Overseas Chinese. Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology attaches great importance to the application work of the “Pengqi Plan”. The United Front Work Department of the Party Committee and the Personnel Office carefully organized the selection and recommendation of candidates based on the selection conditions. After discussion by the Provincial Overseas Chinese Federation expert group and research at the party group meeting, Gan Xiao was finally selected into the first batch of key empowerment targets of the “Pengqi Plan”.

On December 26, 2024, the “Entrepreneurship in China·Intellectual Gathering in Jiangsu” co-sponsored by the Jiangsu Overseas Chinese Federation, Suzhou University, and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications - 2024 Overseas Chinese Talents See Jiangsu was held in Nanjing (see Figure 2). Ai Hui, member and vice chairman of the Provincial Overseas Chinese Federation’s leading party group, attended the event and delivered a speech. Cui Tiejun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief professor of Southeast University, Ren Hongqiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and dean of the School of Environment of Nanjing University, leaders of the Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee, the United Front Work Department of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security and other departments, as well as leaders of scientific research institutes such as Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Nanjing University of Technology, and the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as well as young scholars from the overseas Chinese community from 12 countries including the United States, Britain, and Germany, attended the event. The meeting held a “Pengqi Project” certificate issuance ceremony. Teacher Gan Xiao came to the stage to receive the “Pengqi Project” selection certificate (see Figure 3).
