Report summary: Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness. The development of neuroimaging big data provides new opportunities for precise diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia. The speaker will introduce his team’s research results on neuroimaging biomarkers of schizophrenia in recent years. First, based on functional imaging data, develop a new whole-brain correlation analysis method to identify abnormal neural circuits in schizophrenia at the voxel level; further address the problem of high heterogeneity in schizophrenia, use data-driven disease progression models and large-scale imaging data to discover two biological subtypes of schizophrenia, whose brain atrophy originates from the hippocampus and language area respectively, and the two have different treatment effects; finally, use “epicenter mapping” (epicenter mapping) mapping) method to construct a new imaging index for schizophrenia, verify the index’s cross-disease sensitivity and predictive value for treatment, and combine multi-modal data to elucidate the molecular genetic mechanism behind it.

Brief introduction of the speaker: Cheng Wei is a young researcher at the Institute of Brain-inspired Intelligence Science and Technology of Fudan University, a dual-employed PI at Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, and an honorary researcher at the University of Warwick in the UK. The research field is the development of imaging genetic big data statistical methods and their application in neuropsychiatric diseases to achieve early clinical diagnosis and precise treatment. Selected as a national-level young talent, Shanghai Morning Star Talent Program, and presided over projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Shanghai Natural Science Foundation.
