Smart Medical Association undergraduates and teachers held teacher-student discussions and exchanges

In order to better help undergraduates plan their summer studies, guide undergraduates who are interested in scientific research to master scientific research methods and lay the foundation for future scientific research work, on the afternoon of June 30, teachers from the Smart Medical Research Institute and students from the Smart Medical Club held a symposium in the Information Technology Building. During the event, Vice Dean Xu Jun first made a detailed analysis of the possibility of undergraduates participating in scientific research, and he made suggestions for undergraduates who are interested in engaging in scientific research. He pointed out that engaging in scientific research may not be suitable for everyone because it requires a lot of time and energy and the determination to persevere. He encouraged the students of the Smart Medical Club to always maintain curiosity and thirst for knowledge, and constantly strive to learn new knowledge; learn to ask questions, think about problems, and solve problems; learn to cooperate with others and share their ideas and results with others; be brave enough to try new methods and ideas; persevere, not be afraid of failure, and keep trying. He encouraged all smart medical students who are interested in scientific research to receive scientific research training at the Smart Medical Research Institute during the summer vacation. Through scientific research training, they can cultivate the rigorous scientific spirit of undergraduates; improve their innovation awareness and ability, scientific literacy and scientific thinking ability; and cultivate practical ability and teamwork spirit.

At the meeting, teachers from the Smart Medical Research Institute introduced their research directions and ongoing topics, stimulating the academic enthusiasm of members of the smart medical community. Students who were members of the Smart Medical Society actively participated in the discussion. The students were full of expectations for participating in scientific research and expressed their willingness to further participate in research. They very much expected to apply the knowledge they learned in books to practice through scientific research practice, and expected to further train their ability to solve practical problems through the platform of the Smart Medical Research Institute. The students also had in-depth discussions with teachers on the research directions they were interested in.

Teachers from the Smart Medical Research Institute shared their cutting-edge research results and ideas at the symposium, including the application of artificial intelligence and big data technology in medical fields such as pathological images, radiological images, neuroimaging, medical imaging, ultra-micro uOCT imaging, electronic medical records and multi-omics. The research directions of the teachers are diverse and in-depth. The students in the smart medical club showed a strong interest in the cutting-edge research fields introduced by the teachers, actively asked questions and had lively discussions. The students all said that through the symposium, they had a better understanding of the cutting-edge trends in the field of smart medical care and were full of confidence in participating in in-depth research in the future.

The Smart Medical Research Institute will continue to promote exchange activities between smart medical club undergraduates and professional tutors, provide club students with more opportunities to learn from professional tutors, further stimulate students’ academic enthusiasm, and cultivate their scientific research capabilities and innovative spirit. We believe that in the exploration of the field of smart medical care, this group of young researchers will burst out with unlimited wisdom and potential.

The School of Artificial Intelligence (College of Future Technology) establishes the central position of teaching and educating people, and puts the cultivation of undergraduates in the most fundamental position. Strive to cultivate the innovative spirit of undergraduates to better adapt to the needs of future social and professional development. The School of Artificial Intelligence actively implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity and attaches great importance to talent cultivation. Based on the condensation and construction of the three major research institutes of the school, it has established three student societies: Yuanshi, Smart Meteorology, and Smart Medical. It is committed to cultivating students’ innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and improving students’ innovative and entrepreneurial abilities.
